Groundbreaking on East Bayshore, Owen Sound, Ontario

Construction is now underway for a new residential development at 3195 East Bayshore Road in Owen Sound, Ontario that will bring 267 rental suites to the city, helping ease its housing demand while contributing to economic growth.

SkyDev, part of Skyline, the developer, held a groundbreaking ceremony on August 21, 2025, to celebrate the construction kick-off. They were joined by Mayor of Owen Sound Ian Boddy.

Owen Sound continues to experience high rental housing and infrastructure demand with a current rental market of just over 2,000 suites and a vacancy rate of 1.7%.

This new development is a significant and welcome step forward in addressing the growing rental housing demand in Owen Sound, said Mayor Boddy. It aligns closely with our housing and growth strategies to ensure we’re meeting the needs of both current and future Owen Sound residents. The East Bayshore development will feature luxurious, open-concept suites with high-quality finishes. Residents will be able to access high-quality on-site amenities, expansive open spaces, and westerly views overlooking Georgian Bay.

The development is located less than a 10-minute drive to downtown Owen Sound and is close to transit and recreational trails such as the CP Rail Trail. It is also located adjacent to the Kiwanis Sports Complex.

Skyline is developing new rental housing in five additional communities, with over 600 apartments completed, 1,350 under construction, and 3,000 more in the pipeline.
